Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Community Ranger (Gr D/E) to join our team in promoting the conservation of our natural resources and enhancing community engagement in environmental stewardship. As a Community Ranger, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and protecting local parks, wildlife habitats, and natural areas, working closely with community groups, volunteers, and local organizations. This position demands a proactive approach to community outreach and education, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility towards the environment among local residents. You will be responsible for implementing conservation projects, monitoring wildlife populations, and conducting educational programs designed to increase public awareness about environmental issues and sustainable practices. Responsibilities
Conduct regular patrols of parks and natural areas to monitor wildlife and assess environmental conditions.
Engage with community members to provide information about local conservation efforts and encourage participation in events.
Develop and deliver educational programs and workshops for schools, community groups, and the general public.
Collaborate with local organizations and volunteers to organize conservation events such as clean-ups and tree plantings.
Collect data on wildlife populations, vegetation health, and other ecological indicators to support conservation planning.
Assist with the planning and execution of conservation projects aimed at habitat restoration and protection.
Respond to public inquiries and concerns regarding park conditions, wildlife interactions, and environmental issues.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, conservation, or a related field preferred.
Prior experience in community engagement, environmental education, or public outreach.
Strong knowledge of local wildlife, ecosystems, and conservation practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a variety of outdoor settings.
Valid driver's license and ability to navigate remote areas using maps and GPS.
Basic first aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification.
Hours Per Week: 36.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £15.68
