Are you an inspiring Art Teacher (QTS) looking to bring your technical skills and imagination to a town with a strong community heart? We are seeking a dedicated creative specialist to join the arts faculty at a respected Secondary School in Wigan.

If you have a passion for visual storytelling and the ability to motivate students in the home of the historic Wigan Pier and the famous Northern Soul, we want to hear from you!

The Role: Crafting Success in Greater Manchester

This is a brilliant opportunity for a proactive QTS Art Teacher to join a supportive secondary setting in Wigan. Whether you are looking for a long-term maternity cover, a fixed-term contract, or regular supply work, your role will be vital in helping students explore their artistic potential.

In a town known for its grit and friendliness, you will play a key role in ensuring that Art and Design is accessible, rewarding, and academically rigorous for all students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE).

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Artistic Literacy: Plan and deliver lessons that cover a broad range of disciplines, from foundational drawing and painting to printmaking and 3D design.

  • GCSE Portfolio Mentorship: Support Year 11 students through the high-stakes period of portfolio building and final practical examinations.

  • Celebrate Technique: Introduce students to various art movements and artists, encouraging them to develop their own critical perspective and unique style.

  • Studio Leadership: Maintain a safe, well-organized, and inspiring classroom environment where students feel confident to experiment with different materials.

  • Positive Presence: Uphold the school's behavior and safeguarding policies, fostering an inclusive atmosphere for all Wigan students.

What We Are Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential, alongside a degree in Fine Art, Design, or a related creative field.

  • Secondary Experience: Proven success teaching Art & Design across KS3 and KS4 levels.

  • Technical Versatility: Strong skills in various artistic media and the ability to demonstrate these techniques clearly to students.

  • Adaptability: The professional maturity to join a new department and build immediate rapport with students and staff.

  • DBS Check: A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).

Why Choose Wigan with Randstad?
  • Competitive Pay: Daily rates from £150 - £230, paid weekly to reflect your specialist expertise.

  • Ideal Location: Work in a town with excellent transport links between Manchester and Liverpool.

  • Total Flexibility: Gain diverse experience without the long-term commitments of a permanent post.

  • Referral Rewards: Earn £300 through our "Refer a Friend" scheme for every successful placement!
