Whether you are looking for a long-term maternity cover, a fixed-term contract, or flexible supply work, your role will be vital in helping students develop a global mindset and master a second language.
In a town known for its grit and friendliness, you will play a key role in ensuring that Spanish is accessible, fun, and academically rewarding for all students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE).
Your Key Responsibilities-
Interactive Language Teaching: Plan and deliver engaging Spanish lessons that focus on the core skills of Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing.

GCSE Success: Prepare Year 11 students for their final assessments, focusing on exam board specifications and building the confidence required for high-stakes oral exams.

Cultural Immersive: Use authentic materials-such as Hispanic film, music, and social media-to make the language relevant and exciting for Wigan students.

Progress Monitoring: Use assessment data to provide constructive feedback and implement interventions for students who need extra support.

Classroom Management: Maintain high standards of behavior, fostering an inclusive environment where students feel confident to practice their spoken Spanish.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential, along with a degree in Spanish or a related linguistic field.

Linguistic Fluency: High-level proficiency in Spanish, with a strong grasp of grammar and phonetics.

Secondary Experience: Proven success teaching the Spanish curriculum at KS3 and KS4 levels.

Adaptability: The professional maturity to join a new department and build immediate rapport with students and staff.

DBS Check: A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
