The Governing Body are seeking to appoint a caring, dynamic and hardworking Senior Teaching Assistant for Ysgol Cynefin (previously called the Court School). This position will be full time and permanent, 34 hours per week and 39 weeks per year.
Required to start February 2026 (or sooner if required).
Ysgol Cynefin is a successful special school for pupils aged 7-11 with a primary need of Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD). We are at an exciting stage of our development, and during the 2025-26 academic year, we will move to two purpose-built sites in Fairwater and Llanrumney. These roles are likely to be based in Fairwater, but this is yet to be confirmed.
The successful candidates will:
- Have experience of working with pupils who display distressed behaviours and/or Additional Learning Needs (ALN) OR can demonstrate a willingness to work with the most challenging pupils.
- Be an excellent teaching assistant and role model who can work effectively within a team to maximise the potential of pupils.
- Lead a class, where required, and direct/support the work of colleagues.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills to work effectively in partnership with staff, parents/carers and outside agencies.
- Be able ability to work collaboratively and flexibly.
- Have high expectations of achievement and a commitment to raising standards.
