Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Location: The Holden School, Leigh WN7 4SB
Salary: Up to £30,000.00 per annum depending on experience (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday,
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

At The Holden School, you’ll play a vital role behind the scenes—ensuring our buildings, grounds and facilities are safe, secure and fit for purpose so our students and staff can thrive.
About the Role
This is a varied, active and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You’ll take the lead on day-to-day maintenance, security and grounds work, responding swiftly to issues and coordinating both planned and emergency works. It’s a hands-on position that combines practical skill, independence and strong communication with staff and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Keeping the site safe and secure – opening and closing buildings, acting as a key holder and responding to emergency call-outs when required
Hands-on maintenance – carrying out repairs, decorating and general upkeep without contractor support where possible
Health & safety responsibilities – completing routine checks, fire alarm testing, drills and water hygiene monitoring
Systems monitoring – overseeing heating, cooling and lighting systems and reporting faults
Contractor coordination – arranging, supervising and signing off planned and emergency works
Seasonal and specialist tasks – gritting, spill clean-ups, graffiti removal and keeping grounds tidy
Logistics and stock control – furniture moves, porterage, equipment management and waste collection
Pride in presentation – ensuring the school always looks clean, well maintained and welcoming
Safeguarding, Compliance and Professional Practice
Follow all policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety, security and confidentiality
Report any concerns promptly to the appropriate senior staff member
Uphold company values and maintain high standards of professional conduct
Participate in training, performance reviews and ongoing professional development
Carry out duties efficiently, effectively and economically at all times
Who we are looking:
Full UK Driving Licence
Proven experience maintaining buildings and facilities to a high standard
Strong practical, DIY or handyman skills
Previous caretaking, maintenance or grounds experience (school or similar setting desirable)
A proactive, reliable and self-motivated approach
Pride in your work and a commitment to excellence
