Summary
Job PurposeThe postholder will be responsible for opening and closing public toilet facilities and undertaking a wide range of cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in and around the premises. The role also involves supervising the facility during opening hours and assisting members of the public as required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Facility Access & Security
- Open and close toilets in line with operational hours.
- Ensure the security of the facility by locking and securing windows, doors, and gates, and checking/setting alarms.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Undertake general cleaning and maintenance of public toilets to meet required hygiene standards.
- Gather litter in surrounding areas to maintain a clean environment.
- Report any defects, damages, or accidents promptly to the supervisor.
Public Interaction
- Deal with members of the public regarding complaints or service requests, providing direct responses or escalating to the supervisor as appropriate.
- Supervise the facility during opening hours and provide assistance to site users when required.
Service Improvement & Compliance
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Council services by reporting observations or suggestions to the supervisor.
- Implement procedures to minimise environmental impact, including immediate pollution control responses, in line with the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Observe all health and safety rules and regulations, safeguarding personal wellbeing and that of the general public.
Other Duties
- Undertake any other relevant duties commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.
