Summary
A personal assistant is required for an autistic ten-year-old boy who lives in Camborne.
He would like someone with whom he can build a positive and trusting relationship and who can provide him with 1:1 support.
The role involves supporting him with daily activities, helping him improve his communication, and ensuring his safety around the home and in the community.
Initially, support will take place in the family home to gain an understanding of him and his needs; this will then progress to fun days out in the community when appropriate.
He is bright, inquisitive, and energetic, with little awareness of danger and limited communication skills, and requires constant supervision and care to ensure his safety at home and when accessing the community.
He loves water and swimming and thrives best with unrestricted play. He enjoys big movements such as running, climbing, swimming, and trampolining. He has a big imagination and is very creative.
The rate of pay starts at £13.00 per hour, with the potential for an increase based on the candidate's skills and experience.
There are four hours per week available, with flexible scheduling to suit the candidate’s availability. Some weekend and school holiday availability will be required.
Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs is essential.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
