Summary

Your new role

National Highways are looking for a Lawyer with experience in all aspects of property law, as well as highways and operational matters you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of National Highway's objectives, encountering diverse and exciting legal challenges along the way. We are responsible for delivering some of the largest infrastructure projects in England, as a result the work you will be entrusted to complete will have a significant impact on us delivering what we have promised.

* General drafting, negotiating and advising on documents such as leases, licenses, transfer deeds and property contracts, easements and wayleaves, and general legal documents

* Providing litigation advice on a wide range of issues including encroachment on our land, defending adverse possession claims, advising on Landlord and Tenant issues including leasehold disputes and general commercial dispute.

* Providing advice to the business on land ownership, electronic communications code, powers of statutory undertakers and statutory powers available to National Highways.

* Providing property support on the delivery of highway schemes under the Highways Act 1980.

* Assisting with general and varied legal queries affecting the business.

About you

* Qualified to practice as a Solicitor or Barrister in England and Wales or a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives

* Experience of working within a legal services division

* Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and influence across all levels of the business

* In-depth understanding of Public Law

* Excellent experience of property law and highways law.
