Summary
Family Support Worker – Early Help
Location: Liverpool
Contract: Temporary

Reports to: Early Help Consultant Social Worker
Are you passionate about helping children, young people and families achieve better outcomes? We are looking for a motivated Family Support Worker to join the Early Help team in Liverpool, delivering high-quality outreach and home-based support using a whole-family approach.
This role focuses on prevention, early intervention, and strengthening families so they can thrive and safely reduce the need for statutory services.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the Lead Professional for Early Help cases (Level 2/3), completing Early Help Assessments, coordinating Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings, and developing tailored support plans
Provide targeted, intensive support to children, young people (0–25*) and families, including those stepping down from Social Care, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of support
Assess risk, need, and family strengths using tools such as EHAT, Family Outcomes Star and Signs of Safety frameworks
Support families to develop practical parenting strategies, strengthen relationships and improve outcomes for children and adolescents
Maintain accurate, high-quality records including plans, assessments, chronologies and case notes in line with Recording with Care guidelines
Work collaboratively with schools, health services, children’s centres and other partner agencies to ensure coordinated and effective support
Essential Requirements
NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Education, Health or Social Care (or equivalent)
Experience delivering direct work with children, young people and families, including outreach or home-based support
Experience working collaboratively across multi-agency networks to support families
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust, record work accurately and manage sensitive information
