The opportunity

As one of the leading Independent Schools in the country, we pride ourselves on offering a supportive and caring environment for pupils. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and experienced After School Care Co-ordinator to join our Preparatory School team to help us fulfil our goals to provide outstanding care and education.

The After School Care Co-ordinator will lead and manage the Pre-Prep (Reception to Year 2) Afterschool Club Team working in conjunction with the aftercare Co-ordinator of Prep (Year 3-Year 6) , ensuring the delivery of high-quality childcare that meets the evolving needs of our children. The role involves overseeing daily operations, including staff rotas and attendance registers to ensure smooth functionality.

A key responsibility is to foster an approachable and professional relationship with parents and carers, promoting open communication and engagement.
Collaborating with staff, the After School Care Co-ordinator will cultivate a nurturing and safe environment that accommodates individual developmental needs through engaging play opportunities and activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the set-up and clearing of the spaces used, adhering to health and safety protocols to ensure a clean and usable space for other purposes. They will cater to the diverse needs of the children, supervise food preparation and provide support during games and structured activities.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

NVQ 2 or above in Child Care or equivalent desirable but not essential, or experience working with young children
Professional experience of working with pupils at KS1 and/or KS2 would be an advantage
Personal warmth to gain the confidence of pupils, staff, and parents
To manage staff and foster positive working relations
First Aid Certificate (or willingness to acquire)
The ability to encourage and inspire young people
Good organisational skills
The ability to use own initiative
The ability to work in a flexible way
Committed to professional development and show a willingness to undertake appropriate training for this role

Term Time only contract (36 weeks)
Hours: 15:00-18:00
Salary: £8555 per annum
Required start: January 2026
