Hays Recruitment is proud to be supporting an extremely supportive and inclusive specialist SEND school that supports pupils with a myriad of complex and profound needs. This school is actively looking to appoint a motivated and experienced SEN teaching assistant to support a pupil with ASD in year 5 on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time long-term contract consisting of 32.5 hours per week that will commence from 03/11/2025.

Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting a male year 5 pupil on a 1:1 basis. You will be their main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate and walking them back to their grown-up at the end of the day. Your new pupil is an extremely loving young boy but has low-functioning ASD. You will take a pupil-led approach to their curriculum, focusing on key EHCP areas and supporting them with speech and language sessions (including the use of PECs, Makaton and letters and sounds).

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, have a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience within the last 2 years, and:

  • Experience supporting SEN (ASD and non-verbal is preferred)
  • Be able to commit to a full-time contract
