Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead Copart's Decision Support Team, who are responsible for delivering high-quality analysis and management information (MI) to stakeholders across all areas of the business.

Based at our Head Office in Wootton, Bedfordshire, this team plays a crucial role in driving data-driven decisions, supporting operational performance, and enabling the business to achieve its strategic goals.

As MI Manager, you will oversee the delivery of timely, accurate, and actionable data, reporting and insights that support Copart's growth and ensure the business continues to meet and exceed industry KPIs. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain a deep understanding of how the business operates and to directly influence its success through effective reporting and analysis.

The insights generated by the Decision Support Team are critical to ensuring Copart has the right data at the right time, empowering leaders and stakeholders to make informed decisions that drive performance and innovation.

You will work closely with stakeholders at all levels, leading a small, high-performing team, while also being hands-on in delivering robust MI solutions. The role requires someone who is analytical, commercially aware, and proactive, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to meet business needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing accurate data and management information (MI) to support decision-making through scheduled and ad-hoc reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • The design and implementation of solutions to enhance the delivery, accuracy, and consistency of data and MI.
  • The review, audit and validation of data to ensure accuracy and integrity, escalating issues and recommending corrective actions where necessary.
  • Responding to data requests from across the business.
  • Developing financial and commercial models to support new business opportunities and contract renegotiations.
  • Contributing to the design, testing and implementation of new or enhanced reporting tools and systems.
  • Leading and developing a small team of Decision Support Analysts, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and building strong business analysis capabilities to support stakeholders.
  • Providing guidance and assistance to other members of the Decision Support Team as required.

What we need from you:

Essential

  • Advanced SQL skills to extract, manipulate, and analyse complex datasets.
  • Tableau expertise (or similar BI tools) to create interactive, insightful dashboards.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge, including pivot tables, macros, and functions such as XLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, etc.
  • Strong business partnering skills.
  • Ability to produce and present accurate reports and dashboards in a clear, consistent, and user-friendly format.
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen to interpret data and support decision-making.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to manage, coach, and develop a team.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
  • Proactive and collaborative, with a continuous improvement mindset.

Desirable

  • Prior experience in budgeting, forecasting and periodic reporting would be beneficial
  • Good academics: undergraduate degree, first time passes in accountancy exams and/or good A levels or A level equivalents.
