Your Role

Stockport has earned national recognition as a fantastic place to live and work, recently named ‘Council of the Year’ by the MJ Awards. As Lead Play and Infrastructure Officer, you’ll be central to our ambition to deliver innovative, inclusive play, sport, and infrastructure projects across the borough’s parks, open spaces, and public realm. Working within multi-disciplinary teams, you’ll lead projects from detailed design through construction to handover, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes.

About You

We’re seeking a motivated and experienced professional with a strong track record in delivering public sector public realm projects through detailed design and on-site construction. You’ll be confident managing complex schemes, balancing competing priorities, and budgets, collaborating across teams to meet tight deadlines. Your ability to work effectively with partners and suppliers will be key to achieving timely, high-quality results. A solid understanding of play, infrastructure, and asset management principles and how they inform long-term planning and investment will be essential. Experience in delivering play and infrastructure initiatives with a placemaking focus will be a distinct advantage.

In line with our Live Well approach this role is pivotal in ensuring the play needs of communities are met, supporting the health and wellbeing of our residents.

About Us

You’ll join our Thriving Places Neighbourhoods Greenspace Team, working alongside colleagues who manage capital projects and maintain highway infrastructure. We’re a committed, supportive, and diverse team of staff, consultants, and partners, proud of the impact we make across Stockport. You’ll have opportunities to grow your skills and career while playing a key role in delivering a wide range of meaningful projects.
