What You’ll Be Doing

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the development of pupils with a range of additional needs, such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning delays.

Your role will involve:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to help children access the curriculum at their own pace


  • Working closely with class teachers and SENCOs to adapt learning materials and activities


  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support both their learning and emotional wellbeing


  • Monitoring progress and contributing to planning tailored interventions


  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and a love of learning in every child

    • A recent graduate (2:1 or above) in Psychology, Education, English, Maths, or a related subject


    • Considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, speech therapy, or SEN support


    • Calm, empathetic, and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning


    • A great communicator with a proactive and flexible approach


    • Experienced (formally or informally) working with children or young people – through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or volunteering
