What You'll Be Doing

As a Graduate Academic Mentor, you'll work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to raise attainment and support academic progress. Your role will include:

  • Providing targeted academic support to students, both 1:1 and in small groups


  • Assisting in core subject lessons (e.g. English, Maths, Science) to reinforce key concepts


  • Helping students prepare for assessments and build effective study habits


  • Supporting students who may be at risk of underachieving


  • Encouraging student motivation, confidence, and engagement in their learning


  • Assisting with data tracking and progress monitoring alongside teaching staff


    Is This the Right Role for You?

    This role would be ideal if you:

    • Are a recent graduate (2:1 or above) in a core subject or related field (e.g. English, Maths, Science, Psychology, Education)


    • Have a genuine interest in education and working with secondary-aged students


    • Are considering a PGCE, teacher training, or further study in education


    • Are proactive, patient, and enthusiastic about helping young people succeed


    • Have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a team environment


    • Have experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering)
