Summary

The role involves managing the training pipeline for approximately 70 trainee management accountants, overseeing the application process and ensuring a smooth progression through their training journey. The post-holder will also manage the career development process for Management Accountants (MAS(A)), maintaining visibility of workforce positions, including inflow, outflow, and career advancement. This includes tracking and ensuring the timely and high-quality submission of all Appraisals to the Army Personnel Centre (APC) and acting as the principal liaison with APC.

A key responsibility is leading the continual review and update of MAS(A) policy documents to ensure they remain current and effective. The role also involves liaising with external training agencies, such as CIMA, to ensure MAS(A)-sponsored students receive adequate support, as well as engaging with training establishments to secure Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities for qualified MAS(A) members.

Additionally, the post-holder will provide generalist advice to the Head of MAS(A) on a range of ad-hoc queries, including contingency planning, assignments, and position management.

Army Workforce Plans Manager is the Management Accountancy Services (Army) (MAS(A)) executive officer (XO) and is responsible to the Head of MAS(A) for:

The selection process to ensure sufficient personnel are trained as military Management Accountants (MA) so maintaining the pool of trained MAs within the Army.
Liaison with Army Personnel Centre career managers as required.
Building and maintaining links with both students and their employing officers to reinforce the success of the training programme through effective and timely communications and support.
The management of the training budget.
Providing advice on future manning liabilities; liaison with external training agencies including CIMA and Capita, as well as other external CPD training providers.
