Summary

Job Advert

Based within the Building Design Unit of Invest Falkirk, you will be responsible for conducting both response-led and routine electrical inspections across the Council’s non-housing property portfolio. Your role will be to identify electrical faults, ensure compliance with safety standards, and instruct necessary works as part of planned or responsive maintenance programmes.

Applicants must hold an appropriate electrical or building services-related HNC (or equivalent qualification). Ideally, you will have relevant experience in electrical inspection and maintenance within a property or facilities management context. A thorough understanding of electrical systems, installations, and relevant regulations is essential. You will be mobile throughout the Council area, and membership of a recognised professional body would be advantageous.

You will liaise with premises managers and technical/professional staff within Invest Falkirk to discuss electrical repairs, minor planned budgets, and other issues affecting the safety and functionality of building services. You will issue detailed instructions to internal and external contractors, supervise the standard and timely completion of works, assist in the management of minor contracts, assess the condition of council properties and check and agree invoices prior to payment.

The successful candidate will have the ability to manage multiple projects under pressure, maintain accurate records, and provide regular progress updates to Coordinators and Managers. You will also be expected to attend premises regularly to monitor ongoing works and respond to urgent electrical issues.

You will be required to respond to emergency requests for electrical repairs and ensure appropriate remedial action is taken. Participation in a formal standby scheme covering out-of-hours emergencies is required.
