Applications are invited for Trust Doctor at FY2/SHO equivalent level to work in Older People Services. at The Royal London Hospital for a fixed period of 4 months, commencing immediately.

This is a tremendous opportunity for anyone considering a future in geriatrics!

This post is for 4 months and incldued general medicine on call. The successful applicant will be expected to take on the role of one of our medical SHOs, with responsibilities to match. The department is closely linked to Acute Medicine and Emergency Medicine, and all inpatient medical specialties.

The post would be suitable for trainees who have completed Foundation (or equivalent) and wish to gain a period of focused experience and training in Geriatric Medicine.

The post holder would work days in an acute elderly care ward within a team of F1s, F2’s, IMTs and Registrars, and cover nights and weekends. This will mostly include ward cover for Geriatrics wards, and may include some experience covering medical specialty wards and the acute medical take overnight. The on-call commitment is 1 in 3 weekends and 7 nights every 6 weeks.

• Seeing patients on the ward for Resident led ward rounds
• Working with a team of multi-disciplinary staff to ensure high quality patient care.
• Joining Consultant ward rounds, MDT meetings and board rounds
• Providing medical cover for unwell patients out of hours, with the support of the registrar on call.
