Are you creative, digitally savvy, and passionate about food, drink, and student life? We’re looking for a Marketing Assistant (Commercial Services) to support the promotion of our catering and bar outlets across the Waterside Campus.

This is a 30-hour per week permanent position, with shifts scheduled across various days and evenings, including weekends. This post requires flexibility, work ethic, and a passion for delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape the voice and visibility of our dining and hospitality outlets, from cozy cafés and lively bars to seasonal pop-ups and themed events.

We are an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer and pay the real living wage, which is currently £24,309 per annum. In recognition of this, the starting salary for this post has been increased to pay this higher amount which presently supersedes the grade 2 salary before living wage.

We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another. With Smarter Working you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy. Remote working (2 days pro rata).

About You

You will;

- Develop engaging and relevant content for our social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.)
- Support the planning and execution of marketing campaigns, promotions, and events
- Capture and edit high-quality photos and videos of food, venues, and events
- Monitor social media engagement and respond to student/customer feedback
- Assist with the design of promotional materials (digital and print)
- Collaborate with the wider catering, bar, and university marketing teams
- Track analytics and help report on campaign performance
- Have an interest in marketing, social media, hospitality, or -events
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have an eye for design and visual content (experience with Canva or Adobe Suite is a plus)
- Be organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks
- Be a team player with a positive, can-do attitude
- Assist in supporting with student events and being a key part to the student experience
- Have photography and / or video-editing experience (desirable)

- Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent
