Summary
The Chief Instructor – Continuation Training (CI-CT) is the delegated lead for the planning, management, delivery, and assurance of all Continuation Training (CT) sailing activities delivered or supported by the Joint Services Adventurous Sail Training Centre (JSASTC). You will ensure that all CT including Adventurous Training Exercises are delivered safely, efficiently and effectively. In addition, you will contribute to the delivery of broader sail training objectives and act as a key adviser within the senior management structure. The CI-CT is assisted by an administrative team to deliver the primary output.
Key responsibilities:
Plan, manage, and deliver Offshore Sailing Adventurous Training including exercises in the UK and worldwide in line with the sailing activity plan.
Contribute to inspections of CT activities overseeing the quality as delegated by the management team.
Management of Sailing Training Craft allocated by the Fleet Assurance Manager. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will advise on CT matters, while also being responsible for the collation and delivery of output data and exercise validation.
Act as a Skipper for up to a maximum of 10 weeks (70 days) annually on the water, coordinating Skippers assigned to CT.
Engage with external stakeholders, responding to short notice queries.
If qualified, you may also operate as a Yachtmaster Instructor (YMI) or Examiner (YME).
