Summary

We are looking for an experienced, qualified and people focused Workshop and Engineering Manager (WEM) to join our management team, primarily responsible for maintaining the facilities, people and equipment tasked to sustain our Gosport based MOD Sail Training Craft.

The position is a critical part of the JSASTC Safety Management System (SMS) for Equipment Care (EC) as it assures the safety of the core training fleet for delivery of Adventure Training (AT).

As the lead for managing the routine maintenance and repair of the Gosport based fleet, you will coordinate closely with the Chief Instructors to ensure training output requirements are sustained, through delivery of safe and effective Sailing Training Craft. You would also be responsible for the day-to-day tasking and coordination of our modern and well-equipped facility, providing under cover maintenance capacity to the training fleet, and for leading a team of skilled engineers, shipwrights and electricians.

The WEM (Workshop and Engineering Manager) maintains, develops and improves the JSASTC Safety Management System through proactive engagement and coordination with the Senior Management team.

Key responsibilities:

You will manage the safe use of the facility, equipment and engineering team.
Management of the workshop facility, equipment and personnel including health and safety responsibility.
Management of the maintenance programme of the MOD 34ft Sailing Training Craft (STC) fleet.
Coordination with the Chief Instructor Courses for the delivery and reception of the STC 34 fleet to and from sailing operations.
Review of fleet maintenance working practices and delivery of improvements.
