Pastoral Lead - SEMH Specialist School | Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire
£28,000 - £38,000 | Full Time (37.5 hours/week)

Our partner school in Scunthorpe is seeking a compassionate and experienced Pastoral Lead to champion the wellbeing and personal development of our students. In this key role, you will lead the pastoral team to create a safe, supportive environment where every young person feels heard, valued, and empowered to overcome challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and developing pastoral support services tailored to students' social, emotional, and mental health needs

Working closely with staff, families, and external agencies to support student wellbeing and positive behaviour

Designing and delivering targeted interventions that promote resilience, confidence, and self-regulation

Monitoring student attendance, behaviour, and progress, ensuring early identification of concerns

Supporting transitions and reintegration into school or further education pathways

Providing guidance and training to staff on pastoral care best practices

Requirements:

Genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND and SEMH needs

Proven experience in a pastoral or SEMH role, ideally within a SEND setting

Strong communication and leadership skills

Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and professionals

Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to child welfare

Our partner school is a nurturing SEMH specialist school for young people aged 11 to 16 in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. We provide a safe and welcoming environment for students who have faced difficulties in mainstream education or are at risk of exclusion.
