Summary

The Metis Product team, part of the Home Office’s Digital, Data and Technology Directorate (DDaT), manages the department’s modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution, Metis, based on Oracle Fusion. Their goal is to improve core business processes, enhance functionality, and simplify corporate applications, supporting better data-driven decisions and efficiency across the organisation. The success of Metis rests on staff engagement and willingness to transform existing policies to adopt best practices.

This role supports digital adoption and enterprise enablement. You will contribute to the delivery of contextual, in-app guidance for Oracle Cloud applications using Oracle Guided Learning (OGL) tools such as Smart Tips, Launchers, Hot Spots, and Process Guides. You will also use the OGL Designer and OGL Console to customise guidance experiences and troubleshoot user journeys in agile teams. Collaboration with stakeholders and support for the Product Lead will be key to enhancing user engagement and productivity.

You will work closely with Content Designers and Interaction Designers, typically under the guidance of senior colleagues in your team.

You will work to our technical standards, following a test-driven approach, ensuring the code is open and reusable wherever possible.

Tools and technologies we use:

  • Oracle Guided Learning
  • Oracle Fusion HCM
  • Oracle Fusion ERP

What you will do

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

  • Delivering secure, reliable and scalable software in your team; undertaking a breadth of development tasks.
  • Designing new guides using appropriate tools and in line with standards, proving designs through prototyping.
  • Reporting on system performance and supporting test activities; keeping documentation up to date.
  • Supporting services you have delivered through regular maintenance activities, balancing your work with your leadership.
  • Working with other engineers to deliver new capability, for instance improved CI/CD pipelines or test approaches.

Like many organisations we need to maintain our services 24/7, therefore, on occasions there may be a requirement to work out of hours, for which you will be paid an additional allowance.
