Summary
Learning and supporting care, one fix at a time
We’re looking for a practical, reliable and friendly Maintenance Apprentice (or part-time maintenance support) to help us keep our care homes safe, comfortable and running smoothly — while gaining valuable experience on the job.
You’ll support our experienced maintenance team with everyday tasks like minor repairs, safety checks, and general upkeep. It’s a hands-on role where you’ll learn a little bit of everything — from changing a lightbulb to helping with painting or basic plumbing.
This is an ideal opportunity if you're studying, working towards a trade qualification, or simply looking to build experience while doing something that matters.
If you're curious, hardworking, and enjoy fixing things, we’d love to hear from you.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
You’ll be part of a supportive team that values your time and helps you grow.
Flexible hours that can fit around your studies
Friendly and approachable team always happy to help
Learn real hands-on skills in a supportive environment
A manager who wants to see you succeed
Calm and steady pace of work with real responsibility
Paid breaks
What Your Day Could Look Like
You’ll be helping the maintenance team while learning the ropes.
Supporting with minor repairs and upkeep around the home
Learning how to check equipment and spot issues
Helping keep outdoor areas tidy and safe
Reporting anything that doesn’t look right
Pitching in on small improvement projects
Being a friendly and reliable part of the team
What We’d Love You to Bring
We’re looking for someone with enthusiasm, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
A genuine interest in learning practical skills
Good with your hands and happy to try new things
Reliable, responsible and eager to help
Friendly and respectful around residents and staff
Able to follow guidance and work safely
Some DIY experience is a bonus — but not required
What Makes Island Healthcare Different
We’re a family-run company, and we treat our staff and residents with the same care we’d want for our own families.
For over 20 years, we’ve been part of life on the Island. We’ve built trust by doing the right things, the right way. That’s why many of our team stay for years. They feel respected and proud of the work they do.
Our homes feel like just that — homes. They’re welcoming, well-run, and full of people who care.
So if you want to learn real skills, with people who genuinely support you — we’d love to hear from you.
