Summary

Market Manager On-Site

Responsible to: GCDA Business Curator
Job Summary
The main aims of this role are to be responsible for the on-site management of the Royal Arsenal Market and associated events, Kidbrooke Village Market and associated events, and our street food Pop-Ups at Royal Arsenal and Kidbrooke Village.

Fixed hours permanent contract of 360 hours per annum, approximately 30 hours per month (please note there are peak months where hours will increase and low months where they will decrease).
Specific Duties
• Manage the setting up and taking down of markets following site plans supplied. This includes working in a manual capacity to set up equipment including gazebos, tables, chairs, PA system, and any other items as needed for the event, and in accordance with H&S
• Do a visual risk assessment at markets, ensuring all hazards and risks are minimised
• Ensure smooth running, compliance, and traders wellbeing at all sites
• Always adhering to H&S, including waste management
• Contribute to social media accounts for the markets, building following and brand identity and following guidance given
• Complete a minimum of 3 checklists of traders at each event (on provided template)
• Support other market staff and volunteers as needed
• Contribute to the development of other markets when required
• Dealing with any incidents on site immediately, and reporting them in writing to Line Manager in the proper manner within 24 hours
• Completing a Market Report (on provided template) during and immediately following each event, and sending it to Line Manager within 24 hours
• Regular spot checks of once per two weeks for each site of our Pop-Ups (Royal Arsenal and Kidbrooke Village) ensuring health and safety is followed and traders’ wellbeing is maintained, and that a checklist is completed (on provided template), these should be on different days of the week to ensure that there is no replication within a short time period
• Any other on-site tasks as requested by Line Manager
• To attend any update meetings as requested by Line Manager

Communications
• Promotion of Markets on social media platforms is needed; this will primarily be done during the event to encourage people to attend. This should always be dynamic, happy, and professional looking whenever possible
• Ensuring that at every Market every trader has a minimum of one photograph of their wares, one of their stall and/or themselves, and a short (less than 10 second) video of their stall (this could include them making or preparing something to sell, or just of their stall)
• Ensuring that if there is entertainment at a Market that every performer/ entertainer/ DJ/ activity provider also has a minimum of one photograph of them performing, and of attendees watching, taking part or dancing etc., and short video(s) of their performance(s)
• Ensuring that all the pictures and videos are sent to Line Manager
• Ensuring that photographs or short video clips are taken of the market, this can include happy looking attendees, busy periods, queues, or other interesting points
• Any other communication tasks as requested by Line Manager

Pay rate: £15 per hour.

Interviews will be held on 12th August and 14th August.
