About the role
An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and dedicated administrator to join the professional services team in the Peninsula Dental School (one of England's top Dental Schools), responsible for supporting dental students and clinical academic staff throughout the student journey.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated, and well organised individual to take up the post of Assistant Administrator to work in the Faculty Office Programme Administration team to support the delivery of an efficient and effective administrative service to students and staff across all programmes within the school.
You will contribute to the delivery of a customer focused, efficient, and effective administrative support service across all programmes within the dental school. This is a diverse role, and administrative responsibilities include providing support across all postgraduate and undergraduate programmes, with reference to supporting academic staff with curriculum delivery, assessments, and supporting students on the programme.
This is an opportunity to engage with students and support them whilst at the University, playing a key role in facilitating their journey; effectively communicating with students, academics, clinicians, and colleagues. You will provide support to the Programme Administrators in addition to opportunities to provide support across the teams.
You will:
• Have experience operating effectively as a member of an administrative team within a customer service environment
• Have a flexible and resilient attitude in an ever-changing and challenging environment will be vital
• Have organisation skills, excellent IT skills (including spreadsheets and databases), the ability to be pragmatic and proactively solution-focused to seek resolutions to problems and the ability to work within tight deadlines
• Have good communication skills, minute taking, teamwork and data reporting are also essential.
• Have experience working in a medical or education function/environment (or equivalent) would be desirable.
The role will be based at the student-facing Faculty Office in the Portland Square building of the main University Campus, although occasionally travel to other sites (primarily Derriford) will be required. The office is shared between staff supporting Schools across the Faculty.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for 10 months to cover a period of maternity leave.
Interviews are likely to take place week commencing Monday 4th August 2025 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not.
For this role, you will need to be on site 3 days a week. Although we can acommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.
