About the role

Join our dynamic team at the University of Plymouth’s Faculty of Health, where you can play a vital role in supporting our mission to address today’s most pressing healthcare challenges. Your work pattern will be 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday-Thursday and 8.30am - 4.00pm on Friday, which are the office opening hours. As our Assistant Administrator, you will work under the direction of the Programme Administrator and as a member of the team, you will contribute to the delivery of a customer focused, cost effective and efficient administrative support service.

You will be based at the student-facing Faculty Office in the John Bull Building (University North Campus) although occasionally travel to other sites (primarily Portland Square, Main Campus) may be required.

There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Please refer to the job description for further information.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for a period of up to 12 months due to business demand.

Due to the nature of the role, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate working from home.

What we’re looking for

We're looking for candidates with previous experience in a receptionist or administrative assistant role, although it's not mandatory. Excellent communication skills paired with a friendly and professional demeanor are essential to the success in this position. Strong organisational abilities, coupled with the capacity to multitask and prioritise effectively are key. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, are required. You should be comfortable working both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment will be key attributes for this role.

You will have experience operating effectively as a member of an administrative team within a customer service environment. A flexible and resilient attitude in an ever changing environment will be vital, alongside organisation skills, excellent IT skills (including spreadsheets and databases), the ability to proactively identify and seek resolutions to problems, and ability to work within tight deadlines. Good communication skills, team-work and data reporting are essential.

Experience working in a medical or education function/environment (or equivalent) would be desirable.
