Summary

The Role;
We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Building Services Technician to join our team at the Stratford Campus. This role will specifically support students undertaking Plumbing courses at Levels 1–3, working closely with teaching staff to ensure workshop environments are safe, well-resourced, and ready for high-quality technical learning. You'll play a key part in helping our students gain the hands-on skills they need to succeed in the plumbing industry.
Key responsibilities;
Support the Plumbing curriculum by preparing and maintaining tools, materials, and equipment used in Level 1–3 Plumbing courses.
Monitor stock levels of plumbing-specific materials (e.g., pipes, fittings, fixtures) and source replacements at competitive prices.
Ensure the plumbing workshops are tidy, safe, and fully prepared for practical teaching sessions.
Assist tutors during practical sessions as required.
Contribute to curriculum delivery by providing technical guidance and workshop support.
Participate in College events such as enrolment, open days, and student induction.
Promote and support good student behaviour in practical settings.
Work collaboratively with the plumbing teaching team and attend regular departmental meetings.
Uphold and implement the College’s safeguarding, health & safety, and equality policies.
Take part in professional development and be willing to train as a first aider if not already qualified.
Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.
Qualifications:
GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2.
A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Plumbing or a closely related building services discipline.
First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.
Recent and relevant experience in the plumbing industry.
Knowledge of plumbing tools, systems, and installation techniques relevant to Level 1–3 learners.
Understanding of health and safety within a workshop or construction training environment.
Familiarity with safeguarding principles and the ability to support student welfare.
Awareness of Equality, Diversity, British Values, and employability skills.
Well-organised and proactive with excellent attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage students and support teaching staff.
Confident IT user with knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Teams, and SharePoint.
Team player with a positive attitude and commitment to continuous professional development.
