Summary

The Role;


Are you experienced in Electrical Installation and looking to bring your skills into a dynamic, educational environment? We're seeking a motivated Building Services Technician to support our Construction, Engineering and Green Technologies department.


This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a background in electrical work who enjoys practical problem-solving, organisation, and helping others develop their skills. You'll be supporting the delivery of Electrical Installation and Building Services programmes by maintaining equipment, preparing learning spaces, and working closely with teaching staff and students








Key responsibilities;


Maintain and manage electrical tools, equipment, and stock for workshop and classroom use.
Source materials and ensure electrical components are fully stocked and ready for sessions.
Prepare practical work areas for Electrical Installation and Building Services lessons.
Support tutors during sessions, including setting up demonstrations and practical assessments.
Ensure the electrical workshop is safe, tidy, and compliant with health and safety standards.
Monitor and promote positive student behaviour and support engagement in lessons.
Participate in enrolment, open days, and other student-facing events.
Uphold safeguarding practices and contribute to an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
Attend departmental meetings and take part in ongoing training and development.







Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.


Minimum Level 2 qualification in Electrical Installation(e.g. City & Guilds 2365 or equivalent). Essential
Level 3qualification in Electrical Installation or a related discipline.
GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or Functional Skills Level 2 equivalent).
First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain one.

Practical, recent experience in the Electrical Installation industry or similar technical environment.
Understanding of health and safety in electrical workshop settings.
Awareness of safeguarding procedures for working with young people and vulnerable adults.
Knowledge of equality, diversity, and British Values
Strong practical skills and confidence with electrical tools and materials.
Organised, methodical, and reliable with excellent attention to detail.
Good communication and teamwork skills – able to work with staff, students, and suppliers.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools, MS Teams, and other digital platforms.
A proactive, self-motivated attitude and willingness to continually develop.
