We have an opportunity for someone with a passion for working with young children that would like to grow their skills. We have a trainee post in a nursery setting where you will undertake funded training while you work. We would consider applications from those who wish to work part time.

You will be supported to develop your practice in the nursery and will attend Orkney College to undertake your SVQ3 (Children and Young People). As a trainee you will be supported by experienced practitioners in the team and will take on more responsibility as you develop in your role. By the end of the year, you will be ready to apply for qualified practitioner posts.

We are looking for warm and caring applicants with a real interest in playing with and supporting young children as they grow and develop. You do not have to have had experience in a nursery, but in your application, please do tell us about any experience you have had with children and why you would like to be considered for the post.

Applicants must have a good general standard of education including literacy and numeracy and be willing to achieve HNC in Childhood Practice, SVQ3 (Children and Young People) or other recognised qualification that enables registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner (Day Care of Children) within 3 years.

You must be registered with the SSSC as a Practioner (Day Care of Children) within 6 months of appointment.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

This post is subject to Level 2 Disclosure Check with PVG for working in a regulated role with children.

To find out more please contact Shaun Tulloch, Early Learning and Childcare Operational Manager on (01856) 873535 ext 3220 or shaun.tulloch@glow.orkneyschools.org.uk
