Summary

An Accountant / Tax Manager is needed to join PG Owen, a well-established firm of Chartered Accountants and Financial Advisors based in Midsomer Norton. If you're a confident tax professional with current experience in UK accountancy practice, this is a great opportunity to join a values-led business that supports ambitious clients and promotes progression from within.

Celebrating 30 years in business next year, PG Owen is an established accountancy practice with numerous offices across the Bath area. Renowned for its long-term client relationships and commitment to guiding people through every stage of life (from tax and accountancy to legal services and probate), they work with a wide range of individuals and business owners, always with the goal of making a positive difference to their journey.

Joining as an Accountant / Tax Manager within their Midsomer Norton office, you’ll take responsibility for a varied private client portfolio, preparing and reviewing Self Assessment tax returns, overseeing junior team members, and providing advice on everything from buy-to-let property income to overseas income and trust-based arrangements. You’ll need to be confident in translating complex rules into everyday language and enjoy working face-to-face with local clients.

This role would suit someone already working in a similar Accountant / Tax Manager role, or a senior assistant ready for the next step. It’s office-based due to the hands-on nature of the work and the local client base, so it’s important you’re within a reasonable commute of Midsomer Norton.

What we’re looking for:

Whether you are an Accountant / Tax Manager already, or perhaps a senior assistant ready for a step up, either way, you should bring:

• Experience working in a UK accountancy practice (current or very recent is essential)
• A recognised UK accounting or tax qualification (e.g. ATT / CTA / ACA / ACCA)
• Good knowledge of UK tax laws including Self Assessment and Capital Gains Tax
• Familiarity with landlord / property income, overseas income and/or onshore trusts
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex matters clearly
• A ‘can do’ attitude and confidence liaising directly with clients
• A full UK driving licence (for client meetings etc.)

In return, you'll join a friendly, experienced team where quality advice and personal service come first. This is a great opportunity to build on your experience, take on more responsibility, and develop within a supportive local firm with a loyal client base. Expect a competitive salary, good benefits and progression.
