Summary

This is an exceptional opportunity to join the internal communications team at Defra Group. As an Internal Communications Manager you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering strategic communications that engage and inspire our 22,000+ staff across Defra Group during this exciting period of reform.

Working collaboratively across Defra Group communications, you will develop creative campaigns and engaging content that connects our people with the organisation's purpose and priorities. You will be a trusted advisor to senior leaders, helping them to communicate change effectively and build understanding and commitment across our diverse workforce.

Strategic Communications and Engagement

  • Design and deliver high quality, creative and innovative communications and engagement campaigns
  • Develop and maintain effective change communication and engagement plans to support business priorities across Defra Group
  • Evaluate communications activity using data and insight to inform future approaches and continuously improve our effectiveness
  • Share successes, insights and learning across the communications team to build collective capability

Content Development and Channel Management

  • Create compelling and engaging content across a variety of internal channels, adapting approach and style to different audiences and purposes
  • Produce high-quality multimedia content including videos, feature articles, and digital communications
  • Support the delivery of impactful events – face-to-face, virtual and hybrid – that engage our people with key messages and priorities
  • Ensure all communications are accessible and inclusive, following government accessibility standards

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

  • Build close working relationships with relevant stakeholders across Defra Group, acting as a trusted advisor to shape and deliver internal communication and engagement activity
  • Collaborate effectively with partners across communications disciplines to ensure alignment between internal and external messaging
  • Motivate, lead and provide strategic direction to direct report(s), supporting their development and performance
