Summary
We are looking for an experienced Multi-skilled Engineer - Electrical Bias to work with our Mitie clients to conduct work that provides a multi-skilled maintenance service, which covers electrical and mechanical disciplines and to provide a reactive and pro-active maintenance service as per project requirements to all operational equipment.
You will be responsible for carrying out modifications and installations when required, maintaining, repairing, and calibrating electrical, mechanical and instrumentation plant to optimize both reliability and maintainability. You will provide a service that ensures all key performance indicators are met and liaise with contractors or external suppliers where required. You will also need to complete any required paperwork, produce reports accurately and on a timely basis.
You should carry work in high standards and in line with current company policies and procedures and report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery, or risk to health and safety, or the environment. You will be responsible for ensuring own work and work of those under supervision is completed in a safe and diligent manner.
The ideal candidate would have appropriate up to date training such as NVQ Level 3 qualification in Engineering Maintenance (multi-discipline) and have good knowledge of building Statutory Compliance. They will need to be responsible for themselves and others to maintain a safe working environment as per the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974). They need to be able to read and understand technical drawings, have good problem-solving and decision-making skills and be able to communicate effectively, verbally and written.
Job Purpose
-Undertake maintenance and reactive activity, to a wide range of Mechanical and Electrical Building Services equipment including but not limited to general lighting, building controls, small power and distribution heating, boilers, pumps, compressed air systems, sanitary ware, fan coil and air handling units and BMS systems and other equipment found in modern commercial/industrial premises.
-Be an essential part of the local team who will ensure the safe operation and repair of all M&E building services and fabric equipment on the site.
-Take part in a rota to provide a reactive maintenance service outside operating hours of the site.
-To work within a shift system to provide a core presence at client sites within an extended weekday period.
-To undertake weekend/out of hours working to complete intrusive maintenance activities that cannot be undertaken in client operating hours.
-Working in line with the Permit to Work System.
-To implement systems that will ensure plant is maintained and operated to its optimum efficiency.
-Participate in departmental energy saving schemes and promote the understanding and importance of the economic use of energy.
-Take part in Appraisals/Performance Reviews including the recognition of training and development needs.
-Monitor site performance of sub-contractors and report poor performance.
-Use of IT systems (Handheld device) as part of the CAFM system.
-Work in line with issued Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
-Must be able to obtain SC clearance.
Accountabilities
-Undertake all allocated tasks and perform them in a timely and professional manner.
-Undertake training and appointment as an AP/CP in appropriate disciplines.
-Be proactive to identify and report faults with building services equipment and take steps to resolve.
-Be proactive to ensure all H&S issues are reported/escalated as required.
-Maintain informal communications with Client staff members related to service levels and issues.
-Report service affecting issued to the site management team for formal communication with the client
-Remain flexible with regards to site attendance and tasks undertaken within personal competency.
-Be fully aware of relevant Health and Safety and general legislative matters.
-Assume responsibility for ensuring compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and site specific health, safety and welfare policies.
-You must ensure that you do not act in any way that endangers your health and safety or that of others. Failure to comply with the requirements of this clause may result in disciplinary action being taken against you, which may include your dismissal or notice.
-All accidents and unsafe situations must be reported immediately and accidents recorded in the Accident Book.
-If we give you safety equipment, protective clothing or footwear you must use it. Clothing and overalls must be kept clean.
-You must attend health and safety training as instructed by your manager to ensure that risks in the workplace are reduced.

Knowledge, skills and experience
-HND or NVQ or equivalent in a relevant subject
-IOSH Passport or CSCS Card
-NVQ L3 Electrical or C&G 2382-18 (18th Edition BS7671:2018)
-5 years experience in mechanical and electrical building services and plant engineering
-(Preferred but not essential) Previous appointment as AP/CP for one or more of the following disciplines, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, LV
-Experience of Construction Design Management Regulations (CDM).
-Excellent communications both written and verbal.
-Numerate and computer literate.
