Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker (CSW) for our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) team, operating at the PO5/PO5+2 level. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality social work services to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as their families. Your expertise will be instrumental in assessing needs, developing tailored support plans, and ensuring that families are connected with the appropriate resources and services. You will work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, and other agencies to advocate for the best outcomes for our clients. Your leadership skills will be vital as you guide and mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous professional development. The role requires a deep understanding of SEND legislation and the ability to apply this knowledge effectively in practice. You will be expected to build strong relationships with children and families, ensuring their voices are heard and valued throughout the intervention process. Responsibilities
Provide expert social work support to children and young people with SEND.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of needs and develop appropriate care plans.
Collaborate with educational institutions, health services, and local authorities to coordinate support for families.
Facilitate training and development for junior social workers and support staff.
Advocate for the rights and needs of children with SEND, ensuring their voices are central to all decision-making.
Monitor and review the effectiveness of intervention services to measure outcomes and make necessary adjustments.
Maintain detailed and accurate case records, adhering to confidentiality and data protection standards.
Requirements
A recognized social work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
Registered with Social Work England (SWE).
Substantial experience working as a social worker in a SEND context.
In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and related legislation.
Demonstrated ability to assess and formulate interventions for children with complex needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on advocacy.
Proven experience in case management and effective record-keeping.
