An outstanding SEN school in the heart of Hackney is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.



About the School - SEN Teaching Assistant

This inclusive and supportive SEN setting caters to students aged 11-18 with a range of needs, including ASD, SEMH, MLD, and complex learning difficulties. The school promotes a nurturing, structured environment where every pupil is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.



Responsibilities - SEN Teaching Assistant

· Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with a range of SEN

· Assist in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions

· Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication and social skills

· Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals

· Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and reports

· Help maintain a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment



Requirements - SEN Teaching Assistant

· Minimum 1 year of experience working in an SEN or specialist school (secondary experience desirable)

· A patient, caring and adaptable approach

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Understanding of ASD, SEMH and communication difficulties

· Confident supporting students with challenging behaviour

· Team Teach, PECS or Makaton experience (desirable, not essential)

· A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
