The role:

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Planning Enforcement Officer for approximately 3 months. This is a Part-time role for 30 hours per week.

This role will support a Backlog of enforcement. It is essential that you are relatively local to Rugby as the nature of the enforcement work is that you could be called out to sites across the Borough at relatively short notice.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive record and investigate complaints regarding possible breaches of planning control within the Borough and keep customers informed of progress and outcome
Provide clear enforcement advice and guidance to members of the Planning & Enforcement team as well as other internal and external stakeholders, including the general public.
Undertake detailed assessments and effectively process the full range of enforcement cases that are investigated by the Local Planning Authority;
Investigate the planning history of sites by reference to planning records and any other relevant or available records
Gather factual evidence by means of site visits, interviewing and correspondence with complainants and other relevant parties, including visits as well as acting on stand-by as needed outside normal office hours. This will also involve unaccompanied on-site inspections and lone worker situations
Identify and assess the planning facts and issues involved in cases
Produce written reports of findings and results of investigations

What the client is looking for:

A recognised UK degree or diploma in Town Planning or a related discipline
A full UK driving licence with access to own transport for business use
Experience of working systematically, thoroughly and keeping accurate records
Be able to write clear, accurate and concise reports and letters
Experience of successfully dealing with other people in relation to issues and concerns
IT skills – ability to use Microsoft Office programmes and adapt to other software packages
Experience of working with limited supervision.
