We are looking for an organised, motivated team player to join the Humber Strategy Team as we develop the approach to managing the impact of the rising tides around the Humber for generations to come.

The day-to-day work will focus on administrative duties that enable the team to work effectively and efficiently. You will act as secretariat for the governance of the Humber 2100+ partnership. This will include organising, supporting and attending events and meetings, taking minutes, managing enquiries, and communicating with a range of colleagues, local authority partners and stakeholders. The ability to build and maintain a working network of contacts is essential as are excellent communication skills.

This work of the team is exciting and wide ranging. You will work as a key member of this team. There will be opportunity to learn from other members of the team who have a wider range of disciplines. In this often fast-paced environment, it’s important you can approach challenges positively and spot opportunities to improve how things are delivered.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate. This may attract an additional payment, and full training will be available. Please see the candidate pack for information on how you will support with this.

The team

The Humber Strategy team is focused on the long-term management of tidal flood risk around the Humber and includes specialists in flood risk, the environment and coastal habitats, engagement, strategic planning and funding. We’re involved in a number of exciting Humber-wide projects, including Humber2100+ - developing our new strategic approach to managing tidal flood risk. We work closely with colleagues across the Environment Agency locally and nationally and with many partners and stakeholders.

Experience/skills required

Essential skills/experience:
• good organisational and forward planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver to tight timescales
• a team player
• be self-motivated
• ability to take responsibility for own remit
• have the ability to work with others towards a common goal
• have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• confidence in dealing with senior staff
• have excellent IT and communication skills (including running Microsoft Teams meetings).

Desirable skills/experience:
• good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
• minute taking
• Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external customers.
