An exciting job role exists in the Cyber and Security Team as the Physical Security Innovation Officer, working within the inclusive and innovative Cyber and Security team. This post is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop and progress their careers.
The post holder will be responsible for providing physical security direction and guidance to enable the delivery of programmes, projects and activities across the Army Estate, including Base Security, Access Control, and other high-profile Army betterment and efficiency projects. Operating largely autonomously on a daily basis but in direct support of the Army’s Principal Security Advisor and other pillar heads.
The post holder will lead the work to standardise physical security across the Army estate to reduce security threats. They will assist in physical security innovation. The post holder will prepare briefs for up to 4* level and help develop policy and process internally as well as in conjunction with MOD, wider Defence and other government security authorities.
Secure behaviours play an integral role in protecting both the UK, and our Armed Forces, against external and internal threats. Through this role, you will have the opportunity to develop a broader understanding of the security risks facing the Army across the physical domains. You will also become a member of the Government Security Profession, and there are further opportunities for continued professional development.
We are looking for a talented and motivated individual who is a team player and who can lead a team but is equally comfortable working on their own to assure physical, personnel and information security. Good judgement and strong interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work under pressure.
The successful candidate must be comfortable engaging with wider Defence, Government, and industry. Occasional travel within the UK will be required but this will rarely demand overnight stays.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Support the Senior Executive Officer in programme delivery and project development by introducing initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in Army Infrastructure including the use of technology
Provide subject matter expertise on physical security Operational Requirements and advising on physical security controls to ensure that we comply with legislation and regulation
Support programme delivery and project development
Support work to secure Army against security threat by ensuring the standardisation of the approach to physical security across all projects and programmes.
Support the delivery of physical security risk assessments; ensuring they are conducted, documented and communicated appropriately
Assist in preparing briefs on any physical security activity to be briefed at 4* level
Assist in policy development and process internally as well as in conjunction with MOD, wider Defence and other government security authorities
