Tutor of GCSE Maths Ref: 2425/165Hours: 18.5 hours per week (0.5 fte) Salary: Up to £41,313 pro rata per annum* (subject to experience and qualifications). Plus generous benefits, including: • 57 days annual leave per year pro rata (including bank holidays and efficiency closures)• Generous Occupational Pension Scheme • Financial support towards teacher training course fees if you do not have a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE) - worth up to £7,000 over two yearsAbout the RoleWe are seeking a passionate and motivated Mathematics tutor to join our team, primarily focusing on GCSE 16-18 classes. Your teaching goal will be to inspire and support students in achieving their academic potential in Mathematics, supporting their progression and next steps.Key Responsibilities:• Deliver high-quality GCSE Maths lessons• Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies.• Support students in preparing for their GCSE maths examinations.• Work within the maths team to support and develop teaching strategies involving innovative delivery.• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall quality of Mathematics education.Teaching, Learning & Assessment (TLA):• Teaching: Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students. Utilise a variety of teaching methods to ensure all students can access the curriculum and achieve their best.• Learning: Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement. Support students in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.• Assessment: Design and implement assessments that accurately measure student progress and understanding. Provide timely and constructive feedback to help students improve and succeed.About YouWe are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and innovative teacher with:• Qualifications:• At least Level 3 in Mathematics.• A relevant degree qualification (desirable).• A recognised Level 5/6 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) or a willingness to work towards it.• Experience:• Proven experience in teaching Mathematics, at GCSE, preferably in an FE environment.• Familiarity with the GCSE Mathematics curriculum and examination requirements.• Experience teaching GCSE Mathematics in FE is a plus• Skills:• Excellent administrative and interpersonal skills.• A strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.*Staff with Advanced Teacher Status (ATS) via the Society for Education and Training (SET) are eligible to receive an enhanced salary of £42,738 pro rata - ask us for further detailsAbout the CollegeWe are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more one million people.
