Job Title: SHEQ Advisor - Gas Sector

Contract Type: Contract - CIS
Contract Length: 3 month rolling
Our client is a leading provider of infrastructure and energy services, specializing in safe and sustainable delivery across the gas sector. Due to continued growth and new project awards, they are seeking a proactive and experienced SHEQ Advisor to join their project team in Chelmsford.
Job Purpose:As a SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring full compliance with legislative requirements and company policies across our gas network projects. You will provide expert advice, support operational teams, and promote continual improvement in SHEQ performance.
Key Responsibilities:-
Support the implementation and monitoring of SHEQ policies and procedures.

Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across gas-related works.

Provide SHEQ guidance to site and project teams, ensuring compliance with HSE legislation (e.g., Gas Safety (Management) Regulations, CDM, etc.).

Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, delivering clear reports and recommending corrective actions.

Liaise with regulatory bodies (e.g., HSE, Environment Agency) and ensure reporting obligations are met.

Deliver training, inductions, and toolbox talks to promote a safety-conscious culture.

Monitor environmental controls and sustainability practices on site.

Assist in maintaining ISO accreditations (45001, 14001, 9001).

NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (essential); Diploma (desirable).

Gas industry experience is essential (e.g., utilities, transmission/distribution networks).

Working knowledge of relevant SHEQ legislation and best practices.

Internal auditor qualification (desirable).

Strong communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
