Summary


Applications are invited for one highly motivated clinical fellows (SpR Level) in Renal transplant and vascular access surgery to start as soon as possible and one for April 2023.

The posts will suit applicants who wish to gain extensive experience in renal transplantation vascular access surgery. Previous experience in General and vascular Surgery is advantageous.

You will be providing highest quality care to one of the largest dialysis and transplant cohort in the UK under direct supervision of a team of highly motivated consultant surgeons.

The appointee will be exposed to all aspects of advanced dialysis access and transplant surgery and the relevant medical management of these complex patients on a 1:5 oncall rota. This post is EWTD compliant.

The unit performs an average of 200 renal transplants and more than 500 dialysis access procedures per year (including HeRO graft, extra-anatomical PTFE graft, EndoAVF and IVUS plasty) with a large live donor transplant programme that includes HLA and ABO incompatible transplantation.

These posts will be especially suited to the international fellows or as secondments, who want to gain experience in routine and highly complex transplant and vascular access surgery.

Complex abdominal wall hernia service (joint procedures with plastic surgery team for pedicle flaps)
Renovascular reconstruction with auto-transplantation
Elective general surgery for dialysis and transplant population (including laparoscopic hernias, cholecystectomy)
Emergency
Deceased donor transplants
Emergency surgical vascular access salvage surgery

Multidisciplinary meeting
Transplant listing MDM
X-ray MDM
Transplant biopsy MDM
Intervention radiology and vascular access MDM

Education
Opportunity to have teaching responsibilities at the medical school
Application of Educational grants are encouraged – previous clinical fellows have been successful in securing regular grants
Department have strong links with the Royal college of surgeons, of England, UEMS and ESOT with educational opportunities
