Reading Champion (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) Salary: Grade S4, Pay Point 13 - £21,600 -£25,500Location: ALP Schools, Leicester, BirstallContract type: Full Time, Term Time Only (40 weeks)ALP Leicester have been judged as Good by Ofsted and are keen to continue to develop on their journey to Outstanding. This is an exciting time as we are growing both in numbers of learners and in our positive reputation.ALP Schools provide continuity in learning for learners with Education, Health and Care Plans. We are a provision for learners on the autistic spectrum or who have other special educational needs. We cater for young people in their primary, secondary and post 16 school years. The overarching purpose of our provision is to work with children so that they are able to overcome the barriers to learning that they have previously encountered. We aim to offer flexible, structured and supportive needs led approaches. We are seeking to appoint a Reading Champion to join ALP Leicester. You will work closely with the Headteacher and Lead for English in the development of high quality, targeted intervention and tutoring to support learners in literacy and reading. Your obvious enthusiasm and passion for reading and books will motivate and inspire our students. What you will need to succeed:The right candidate will have experience of working with young people to support the development of literacy and reading skillsStrong administrative skills to provide support for key areas of the academy’s work, including: the library, reading intervention, trips and other literacy enrichment activitiesCoordinate intervention and tutoring sessions effectively to ensure students retain access to their curriculumCommitted to supporting learners to reach their full potentialEffective communicator both orally and in writing with the ability to build positive relationships with students and their parents/carersGood ICT SkillsUnderstanding of the educational system and current developmentsThe successful candidate will have the opportunity to train/gain funded qualifications in the following areas:PhonicsL3 SENL3 TAL5 Education and TrainingQTLS/QTSOther relevant training options are available linked to the post and the school development plan.There are opportunities for a visit or an informal chat before applying, please contact the school directly.Interviews: TBCWe are committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and all posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
