Are you looking for experience in a school, and could you support our students to do their best?
We are looking to appoint Teaching Assistants to join us at the start of next academic year, who will work closely with teachers to provide in-class support for individual students and also work with small groups. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking for experience in an education setting, or for those already in the sector and wishing to join a cohesive and highly supportive staff team.
Being a Teaching Assistant can also be an excellent stepping stone to a career in teaching, with several of our team going on to successfully complete on-the-job teacher training with us, which may be of interest to some applicants.
Ideally, candidates should have some experience of working with young people; excellent communication skills and a good general level of education are essential, as is the ability to empathise with children with learning difficulties. However, it is always more important for us to find the ‘right person’, someone able to show compassion and understanding, and we also welcome applications from those new to this area of work.
Soar Valley College is committed to excellence for all. The report from our recent Ofsted inspection in March 2025, which judged the school to be Outstanding in all areas, says “There is a strong sense of community at the school, where pupils and staff genuinely care for one another” and “The school is unfailingly ambitious for the achievement of pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.” This post represents a fantastic opportunity to join our high performing staff team in this outstanding school – a great place to work, where the caring ethos inspires success for all, outcomes for children are very high and turnover of staff is low.
Further details about the school are available on our website. Please contact Smita Stone if you require any further information.
Closing date: 9am Monday 23 June 2025.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks, therefore, all posts are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
