Job Title: Rolling Mill Setter / Operator
Location: Redditch

Pay: £13-£14 Per hour DOE
Hours: Full-time – Monday to Thursday 08:00–16:30, Friday 08:00–15:00
Overtime: Available (after 16:30 or Saturday mornings)

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for a Rolling Mill Setter/Operator to join a busy manufacturing facility in Redditch. This is a hands-on role in a niche area of metal processing, involving the setup and operation of precision rolling mills, slitting machines (also known as shearing machines), and furnace loading.

The position offers long-term stability, full training, and the opportunity to gain rare and valuable experience in a highly specialised sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate rolling mills to process metal strip to exact specifications


  • Operate slitting (shearing) machines to cut material to required widths


  • Load material into furnaces safely and efficiently


  • Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments


  • Ensure quality standards are met through accurate measurements and checks


  • Maintain production records and adhere to health & safety standards


  • Collaborate with the team to meet daily targets and resolve issues promptly


    What We’re Looking For:

    Essential:

    • GCSE Grade C / Level 4 or higher in Maths and English (or international equivalent)


    • Strong mechanical understanding and aptitude (mechanical reasoning will be assessed)


    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word)


    • Willingness to commit to full training programme (6 to 12 months)


    • Interest in a long-term role in a skilled, technical environment


    • Able to work overtime with short notice when required


      Desirable:

      • Experience working in a metal processing or rolling mill environment


      • Knowledge of coiled or strip metal


      • Apprentice trained in an engineering, mechanical, or manufacturing discipline


      • Previous slitting/shearing experience


      • Forklift Truck licence


      • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP
