Renfrewshire Council are seeking to recruit a Funding and Development Officer to work within our successful Invest in Renfrewshire team.

This role is delivered on a Hybrid basis. Your main base will be Renfrewshire House, Paisley but due the nature of the role you will work with organisations across Renfrewshire as well as having the opportunity to work from home, when appropriate.

The role will contribute to all aspects of the Council’s external funding activity and support Community Plan Partners (CPP) and the local voluntary sector in this area of work.

You will ensure the Council maximises its external funding potential through effective partnership working and awareness of funding opportunities. You will act as a corporate (and partner) adviser on all issues relating to the external funding environment – promoting funding opportunities and assisting in the development of relevant funding bids. This will include supporting 3rd Sector and CPP in specific external funding bids and to provide advice and support to develop partner capacity.

You will bring forward and develop project ideas and innovative new approaches which respond to Council and CPP priorities and be involved in specific Council external funding activities, to advise upon and lead on specific funding applications and working groups as required.

It is essential that the postholder has a level of formal qualifications in an appropriate discipline.

It is essential that you are a credible, confident and experienced professional with a track record of successful project development and that you can display effective leadership qualities and the ability to work effectively with others. You must have a positive, enterprising, engaging and proactive approach and be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a small team to meet deadlines.

It is essential that you have practical experience of the development and management of a range of medium to large externally funded projects, preferably within a partnership/multi-functional framework and that you have effective project and financial management and planning skills. It is desirable that you are educated to Degree level in an appropriate discipline and that you have specialist training in a particular field for example Community Economic Development, Rural Development or Social Enterprise Development.

It is also essential that you have a solid understanding of the external funding environment and the roles of the various funding bodies and a detailed working knowledge of external funding sources and application processes. You must have the ability to take a proactive and innovative approach and to demonstrate high levels of external funding secured over the last 5 years. You must have the ability to write, advise on and assess funding applications to the highest standard and to produce high quality work under pressure while ensuring strict deadlines are achieved.

It is also essential that you have oral and written skills and the ability to communicate and influence people at all levels. A high level of IT skills is essential as is an understanding of key issues which impact on Council service delivery.

A full UK driving licence is essential.
