Birmingham Community Healthcare (NHS) Foundation Trust provides a wide range of high quality, accessible and responsive community and specialist healthcare services across the City of Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region. This post is in the community paediatric service within the Children and Families Division.
The Division brings together all Universal and Specialist Community Services for Children and provides a co-ordinated approach for child health care. Good links are maintained with the Clinical Commissioning Groups, the Local Authority and voluntary agencies providing care for children.
This post will be part of a Team of 21 Consultant Paediatricians and 5 Specialty Doctors, leading the Community Child Health Services in Birmingham.

The post will provide specific support to the Children in Care Service, conducting initial health assessments to those children and young people new to care in Birmingham. Prior to commencement training in this area will be provided. Opportunities to support other areas within the wider community paediatric speciality will be offered as required.

Roles and Responsibilities to be Undertaken by the Post Holder
1. Children In Care
The post holder will undertake initial health assessments for those children and young people new to care. The child / young people will be accompanied by their carers to the appointment and social workers should be available over the telephone or in person. 4 children / young people will be seen in the clinic. Dedicated admin time is offered in the afternoon to complete reports etc.
2. Other Clinical Roles
The post holder will have opportunities to discuss with the community paedaitric team other clinical roles to support other areas within the wider community paediatric service as required.
