Summary

The Home Office works to build a safe, fair and prosperous UK. We achieve this through our work on counter-terrorism, policing, fire, crime, drugs policy, immigration and passports.

Immigration Enforcement is responsible for enforcing the government’s immigration laws, tackling illegal migration, removing foreign national offenders and immigration offenders from the UK. It also aims to disrupt the organised criminal groups that exploit the vulnerable for their personal gain. Learn more on our careers pages.

National Returns Progression Command (NRPC) is part of Immigration Enforcement. It is responsible for preventing immigration abuse, tracking immigration offenders and increasing compliance with immigration law. It works with partners such as the police to regulate migration in line with government policy, while supporting economic growth.

Are you ready to be a part of a team to assist in the return of those with no leave to remain in the United Kingdom? We are seeking new team members for the NRPC Bail Hub which is a newly formed team adopting ownership of existing immigration bail processes.

The successful candidate will draft bail summaries in response to a person’s application for First Tier Tribunal (FTT) bail from detention, which will, if appropriate, oppose that bail be granted. EOs within the Bail Hub ensure the quality of all bail summaries are drafted to a high standard and present accurate information which will then be subject to a second pair of eyes (SPOE) check.

Following the SPOE check, bail summaries are presented to an Immigration Judge (IJ). A Presenting Officer (PO) from Appeals, Litigation and Admin Review (ALAR) will attend the bail hearing and present the case from the information provided in the bail summary. The IJ will make a decision on whether to grant immigration bail or to maintain detention. IJs provide regular feedback to the NRPC Bail Hub about the quality of bail summaries.

Workflow within the bail hub is of paramount importance as a bail summary must be completed within the required timeframes which must be adhered to.

These posts are fast-paced and require an adaptive and dynamic approach. Full training will be provided but successful candidates will need to bring a sense of positivity and resilience as the team embeds and processes are established.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Ensuring bails are drafted accurately and within the required time frames
  • Actioning SPOE feedback to meet deadlines
  • Responding to Presenting Officer enquiries in a professional manner
  • Liaise with case owners when required to ensure correct information is captured in the bail summary
  • Keeping up to date with changes to the process as and when required
  • Being a proactive team member

Working Pattern

This role is available on a full-time basis with the option of compressed hours working. This role is also suitable for part-time working hours, with a minimum requirement to work 30 hours over 4 days per week due to business requirements.
