Phoenix is a multi-cultural 11-19 secondary school, serving 1,965 students in the north of West Bromwich close to the border with Walsall in the West Midlands. Opened in September 2010, as a result of the merger of two local schools, Phoenix has established itself as one of the highest performing schools in the area, an accolade achieved through commitment to continually improving the quality of teaching and learning and the provision of an exciting and dynamic learning experience for students.
Over recent years examination results have continued to improve which is reflected in our 2024 value added figure of +0.17 published by the DFE. This is expected to be further enhanced in 2025 with an EBacc cohort now approaching 40%. We are seeking to appoint a highly talented and innovative, qualified Leader of KS4 Mathematics to join our friendly and supportive team. You will have a confident understanding of the curriculum and the ability to inspire excellent learning.
The Maths team currently comprises 21 specialist teachers. The department has leads for each of the key stages, of which this advert relates to one of them, alongside two colleagues who help to lead on whole school teaching and learning strategies. Maths results are on the up year on year and one of the reasons for this is the teamwork and comradery within the department. The number of students staying on to study Maths post 16 at both A level (Maths and Further Maths) and Core Maths has increased to where Maths is now amongst the most popular subjects in the Sixth Form.
