UHBD are looking for motivated, enthusiastic doctors to join their Trust. A busy, progressive, forward thinking Trust, we have been successfully recruiting to these posts for 8 years and would like you to join our consultants and teams working in Specialist or Acute Medicine.

We typically receive several hundred applications for locally employed doctor posts and we will therefore only shortlist candidates who meet the Essential criteria. Please do not apply if you do not meet this criteria as this leads to significant clinician time reviewing applications from applicants who will not be shortlisted.

In conjunction with the wider medical team, your main duty will be day to day management of medical in-patients.

We would also like to offer you opportunities to increase your out-patient experience, build upon the skills you already have, learn new procedures and work in our friendly departments. There are opportunities to teach, perform Quality Improvement Projects and be part of our innovative teams.

You will receive educational and clinical supervision, £500 study leave budget (pro rata) and 5 days study leave (pro rata), the option to access an Eportfolio and be encouraged to join regular teaching programmes. Subject to individual requirements, there may be scope to attend ALS or IMPACT courses and we will facilitate your annual appraisal.

The post holder will be allocated to either:

· Acute Medicine for the duration of the contract (Junior Clinical Fellow in Acute Medicine)

or;

· General Medicine F3 for the duration of the contract

or;

· A rotational F3 contract with 2 rotations within general medicine plus a speciality rotation in one of the following specialties: Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Cardiology, Renal , High dependency care , Neurology, Medicine for the Elderly and Stroke Medicine. Applicants can give preferences for the specialist rotation. We will do our best to accommodate preferences but as this will be based on service needs, we cannot guarantee applications will get their first choice.

General and Specialist Medicine working arrangements will include a long day and 1 in 4 weekend cover with compensatory rest periods. These positions do not include night working.

Acute Medicine working arrangements include an out of hours working rota including nights, weekend and long day shifts.

These are service posts and therefore candidates may be required to cover another medical/medical speciality ward, as the service requirements dictate.

There are numerous options for locum shifts within Acute Medicine and SMBU subject to the European Working Time Directive (EWTD).

Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice on application is essential.

Although not formal training posts and these are not accredited by Health Education East Midlands, we believe we can offer you good training in a busy, large hospital that has the benefits of a district general and the reputation of a teaching hospital.
