Summary
We are a specialist independent provider offering inclusive education to young people aged 16–25 with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, SEMH, PMLD, and SLCN. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Principal to lead our provision and ensure it remains compliant, inclusive, and aspirational.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the strategic direction, improvement planning, and educational mission of the provision in line with the SEND Code of Practice (0–25), Children and Families Act 2014, and Equality Act 2010.
• Oversee a broad, person-centred curriculum that develops independence, life skills, and prepares students for adulthood.
• Ensure robust quality assurance and full compliance with Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework.
• Manage Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes including reviews, ensuring outcomes are meaningful and met.
• Promote a strong safeguarding culture and act as DSL or work closely with the designated lead.
• Champion inclusion and equality, ensuring accessibility, appropriate reasonable adjustments, and learner voice.
• Lead multi-agency working with families, SENDIAS, therapy and health teams, and local authorities.
• Develop and support high-performing staff through clear expectations, CPD, and inclusive leadership.
• Ensure efficient operational management including health and safety, compliance, and effective use of resources.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
• Proven senior leadership in SEND or post-16 education.
• In-depth understanding of SEND legislation, EHCP management, and quality standards.
• Experience designing inclusive curricula and driving measurable improvement.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and commitment to learner welfare.
• Outstanding communication, organisation, and team leadership skills.
Desirable:
• NPQH, NPQSL, or PGCert in SEND or Inclusion.
• QTS/QTLS or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Familiarity with Ofsted inspections and SEND funding models.
